As more and more people become familiar with the application, the disadvantages of using AI to create avatars are becoming more apparent. The application has sparked controversy over the type of images it produced using artificial intelligence.

A report in Wired states that many women uploaded modest photos, but the app generated sexualized and nude anime avatars . They said the pictures had “gigantic boobs” and “sultry poses.”
Women of color in the US said the application changed their skin color to fair. According to reports, a woman uploaded a clothed image, resulting in a topless character.
All of these changes were neither requested nor expected in the application. People also raised concerns about an application taking on artists’ jobs. To this end, Prisma Labs issued a clarification, saying: “Since cinema hasn’t killed cinemas and accounting software hasn’t wiped out the profession, AI will not replace artists but can become a great tool.”

Regarding privacy concerns, the company said it would conduct a full audit of back-end systems to know how secure or unsure pictures might be .

The app claims that it automatically deletes uploaded images from its server once it has created the avatars. You have to pay for magic avatars.
