How to create a playlist on YouTube

The first step to create a playlist on YouTube is easy. You need to decide where to host the playlist. YouTube playlists are automatically hosted in the channel you create them in, so be sure you’re logged into the correct channel before you begin.

You may have access to multiple channels. YouTube will automatically create a personal channel associated with your account, but you may also have access to a company or brand channel that you manage.

To navigate to the relevant channel, select your avatar in the top right corner of the screen and when the drop-down menu appears, select “Switch Account” and then select the channel you want to share an account with want to add a playlist.

Next, select your avatar again – which should now show the picture of the channel you want to add a playlist to – and select “Your Channel” from the dropdown menu.

This will take you to your YouTube channel – essentially the central hub where your brand stores and manages all of your YouTube content.

Select the Customize Channel button to access YouTube’s video manager and start creating your playlist.

From this screen you can edit your entire YouTube channel, including your info information, videos, channels you follow and more To create a playlist en, select “Playlists” in the menu on the left.

From there you will see all your existing playlists and most importantly a button labeled “New Playlist” on the top right. Click this button to start creating the playlist.

After you click New Playlist, YouTube will prompt you to give your playlist a title. Enter the title of your playlist and click “Create”. You can always change this later if you change your mind. You can also choose whether your playlist should be public, private or unlisted.

Voila, you’ve created your Youtube playlist! But we’re not quite done yet. Next you need to add videos to your playlist. Click your playlist, then click the three-dot menu to open a drop-down menu. The first option is “Add videos”:

Clicking on it will bring up a popup where you can search videos and add them to your playlist. When you are happy with your video list, click Add Videos.

And done! You have your playlist. Click the Share button to copy your playlist URL, email the playlist to someone, or embed the playlist on your website.

How to edit a playlist on YouTube

Once you’ve created your playlist, you may want to edit it from time to time. Thankfully, YouTube makes this easy. First, navigate back to the Playlists tab. Then click the pencil icon to make your changes:

And paste as well add more videos, delete your playlist and update your playlist settings:

You can also sort the videos in your playlist by most popular, date added, or de m sort release date.

Finally, if you want to delete a video from your playlist, just select the 3-dot menu on the right and then click “Remove from [name] playlist”.
