How to add Chrome bookmarks to the iPhone and iPad home screen
To achieve this we will use the shortcuts App preinstalled on modern iOS and iPadOS versions 13 and later. . If your device is running iOS 12 or you can’t find the app on your device, download Shortcuts from the App Store.
- Open Shortcuts on your iPhone or iPad.
- Go to the “My Shortcuts” section of the app and tap the “+” icon in the top right corner of your screen.
- Next, tap “Add Action” to start a new shortcut.
- Now type “Safari” in the search bar and scroll down to “Actions” Category. From here select the action “Open Links” as shown below.
- Now tap the “URL” part of the Safari map to browse with to continue to the next step.
- Type “googlechromes://” followed by the website URL of your Chrome bookmark. For example, if you want to add a shortcut to open OSXDaily in Chrome, you need to type “googlechromes://www.osxdaily.com”. When done, tap the three dots icon to continue.
- Enter a name for your shortcut and tap Add to Home Screen Add”.
- In the final step, you can select a desired name and icon for the home screen. Tap Add to save changes.
- You can find the new shortcut on your home screen. Tap on it to open the website directly in Google Chrome.
There you are. You have successfully learned how to add Chrome bookmarks to your iOS or iPadOS home screen using Shortcuts app. It’s not as seamless as adding a home screen bookmark with Safari, but it works.

Note that tapping this shortcut icon will take you to the Shortcuts app for a split second before Chome will open up with your configured website. Likewise, you can create multiple shortcuts to open multiple URLs and use this method to quickly launch your Chrome bookmarks from the home screen.
