3 . Choose how you want to stream to YouTube

You can stream live video to YouTube in three ways:

1. Mobile: Mobile Streams are great for on-the-go vlogs and updates and create a more relaxed atmosphere. Note that your channel must have at least 1,000 subscribers to go live on the YouTube mobile app.
2. Encoder: Used An encoder (aka streaming software) gives you more control over your live stream. It’s a bit more complicated to set up than streaming from mobile or webcam, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to produce higher-quality streams. You should stream using this option if you want to share your screen or use multiple cameras.
3. Webcam: YouTube has a live streaming studio that you can launch from your web browser and that works with Yours connects to the computer’s webcam. It’s a quick and easy way to start streaming, although you have less control over the quality of your stream than using an encoder.

📱 Live Stream on YouTube from mobile app

To go live on YouTube from the mobile app, follow these steps:

1. Open the YouTube app and select the Camcordericon.
2. Select Start Live.
3. Add a title and privacy setting to your stream .
4. Select More from options if you want to add a description.
5. Select Show more to open the settings for live chat, age restrictions, monetization and promotions. Select Show Less to exit.
6. Select Next to add a thumbnail. You can either take a photo or upload an image.
7. Select Share to get a link to post on social media.
8. Select Go live.

💻 Live stream on YouTube with an encoder

To use an encoder (aka streaming software), follow these steps:

1. Sign in to your YouTube account in a web browser.
2. Click the Camcorder icon at the top -right corner, then select Go Live from the drop-down menu.
3. You’ll see two options: Start a stream now or Schedule for later. Click Start under the Right Now option to start streaming immediately.
4. Two new options will appear: Built-in webcam and streaming software. Click Go next to the Streaming Software option.
5. The stream dashboard will open where you can view all the information about your stream including the stream key.
6. Open your encoding software and go to your settings.
7. If you see an option to stream to YouTube, select that option. If you don’t see a YouTube option, you’ll need to go back to YouTube and copy your stream key, then paste it into your encoding software.
8. Finish your encoding software setup by adding your camera and microphone and other sources.
9. Start the stream from your encoder and you’re live on YouTube.

4. Test everything

Before going live, make sure everything is working, especially the following:

• Upload speed. You should be aware of the streaming upload speed you will be using before this step.However, you should also test if anything is affecting the speed before streaming, e.g. B. Peer-to-Peer connections or too many devices on the network.
