One of the first things you need to do whenstarting a blog is to create a blog logo. This will represent your brand in everything from the website itself to your social media accounts, your signature in your emails, and the content you create.
Creating a blog logo can be like this be simple like using a specific font B. for a simple text logo or a text blog name with minimalistic or elaborately designed images beautifying it.

And while you might want to go for creative logo design, sometimes it’s simple better. I’ll get into that later.
If you have any graphic design skills, you know what to do! For others, creating a blog logo might seem daunting at first.
However, the good news for many of us lifestyle, nutrition, and parenting bloggers is that there are many simple solutions to creating a blog logo that works to create perfect for our websites.

What is a blog logo?
Logos can be elaborate or simple. The type of blog logo to consider is a wordmark logo.
These logos are simple word logos with a specific font that represents the brand. Think of Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. They use specific fonts and colors that represent their brand.
You don’t have to overspend on a blog to create a wordmark logo that fits your blog’s personality.
For blogs, a wordmark logo to use in headers can be as simple as using a unique font that you can buy or get for free:

Or it could be a Submark logo its like this which is perfect for watermarking photos including in your Pinterest pins or other branding materials:

Things to consider when creating a blog logo
We When creating a logo, keep the following in mind:
- Fonts and colors reflect your brand and create a specific perception of your blog
- I Is the logo easy to read and recognizable even if it is tiny?
- Will people easily remember and recognize it as your blog’s logo?
If so, a professional designer a blog logo created for you, you will most likely get several different options of main logo, an alternate logo (or secondary logo) and a submark logo (commonly used for watermarks and other marks).
But what if I told you that these logos above weren’t 100% created by a designer? Yes, the design for the alternate breeder logo and submark logo were originally pre-designed by a professional.
However, I made the customization using my favorite font that I bought on Creative Market: Caleigh.
VOILA! A beautiful looking logo in minutes. While I don’t use the alternative logo, it’s a nice one, and I might swap out my current logo with simple letters for it in the future.
Why you need a logo for your blog
And not just any logo, but an aesthetically pleasing and memorable logo.
Why?
Because it represents you and you want to look your best. What identifies your brand (your personal brand and your blog brand) is your logo.
You can use it on everything from:
- your blog Header
- Your social media accounts
- A business card (if you end up producing a few to have on hand for events)
- Your media kit
- On any content you create to promote blog posts (where it makes sense, e.g. Pinterest pins)
- All freebies, printables, e-books and other digital products you create
A good-looking logo makes your website look professional – something brands look for when collaborating with bloggers and influencers.
So you can see how creating a blog logo is important. Now let’s see how to create them!

NOTE: If you don’t already have it, get Adobe Photoshop through Adobe Creative Cloud to create beautiful Images to create logo designs. It is a worthwhile investment not only for logo making but also for photo editing.
Creative Market
Creative Markethas numerous beautiful logos in different styles – from feminine sets to more generic and masculine styles.
Templates can be for Photoshop, Illustrator or Canva and usually come with step-by-step instructions.
The makes it super easy to create a blog logo if you have a beginner’s level in one of the design programs.
It’s also super easy to find one and buy what you like. Think of it like Esty for designers, bloggers and anyone marketing anything. You buy credits (best to start at $100 with a $10 bonus) and then buy what you need.
Take some time to explore Creative Market before choosing a template that fits your brand niche.
In summary, the pros and cons of using pre-made templates to create a blog logo are:

- Infinitely cheaper than hiring a graphic designer
- Can be customized to get a custom look
CONS
- Requires some knowledge of Photoshop
- Potential for a similar looking logo out there
- Typically costs around $15-$25
Create Your Own Logo in Canva
Another great place to create a blog logo is Canva. If you don’t use it, what are you waiting for?
When I don’t have time for Photoshop, Canva is my go-to graphic design tool for easy creation in minutes. I think it’s probably the number one tool that many bloggers use on a regular basis.
Canva has several logo templates that you can use.
The great thing is that They can adapt they should look original. Remove or add an item. Change the logo or font color.
There are a few limitations with Canva, however.
If you’re using the free version, you don’t have to upload your own fonts. This limits the uniqueness of your logo.
And of course, certain elements, graphics, and other features are for paying subscribers only. So you are somewhat limited in what you can change.
In my opinion, if you really want to harness the power of Canva and create a beautiful blog logo,get Canva PRO version.
There are many more things you can do with Canva that will be very useful for creating Pinterest pins and other blog graphics. So it’s wise to invest in a monthly Canva PRO subscription.

- If you don’t have a Canva PRO account, you will not get access to your own preferred fonts
- Restricted free elements and graphics
- Not a fully coherent set of options for the main, alternate logo and submark logo – You have to create each one separately, yourself
Logo generators
There are several websites online that will generate a logo for you. For someone who is very short on time and not really interested in a professional looking unique logo, this might be the way to go.

Why am I having so much trouble on these online sites that do this seem to offer a quick and free way to create a logo?
That’s because they look like this:
These are “meh”. Be honest, would you be interested in reading more from a blog with a blah looking logo? Probably not.
However, as said, some prefer a quick and dirty logo that takes minutes to create, here’s a breakdown of the best online logo maker Google has come up with.
LogoJoy
The photo above is from Logojoy.com. It took me three minutes to create a blog logo. You can select your preferred colors from a simple pick list.You tell them what industry you’re in.
The site gives you the option to like a few pre-existing logos so it understands what kind of look you want your want to achieve. And then choose some graphic decorations. Putting this knowledge together, the website will generate multiple options for your new logo.
But with limited fonts and an algorithm that doesn’t necessarily always get the prettiest looking logo, this is a mistake in my books.
In order to get your final logo, you will also need to connect the website to your Facebook account or create one using your contact information.
PROS
- Pretty basic user interface
- Guides you easily through the options
CONS
- Generic looking logos are created
- Limited options for graphics
- Does not look professional or aesthetically pleasing
- You don’t have too much control over the design

Logo Design Apps
I also looked at iOS logo design apps. There are some popular ones like LogoScopic Studio and Logo Maker Shop.
All three have limited free versions with minimal options when it comes to cool logo- designs. Logo Maker Shop was my favorite of the three because you can create your own logo from scratch using the slightly larger number of free fonts and design elements.
Pro versions vary in price and free trial versions only go so far. I’m always reluctant to buy a logo making app that doesn’t give me the flexibility to create transparent PNG versions etc.
That’s why Canva PRO is my recommended approach, even with the bigger price tag. As a blogger, you’ll get much more use out of Canva than you would a logo app.
So technically, you can create a blog logo and log out once you’re done.
Personally, I found these apps disappointing.
How to resize and save your files
When creating a blog logo, you need to consider what sizes you need and which ones types files you need. I like to save my logos in different file types:
- JPGS, cropped as close as possible to the logo itself
- PNG files, cropped and converted to transparent versions to show images etc .to superimpose. This can be done in Photoshop when editing a premade logo or creating one from scratch. PhotoBiz Knowledge Base explains very well how to do this using different versions of Photoshop. Canva offers a transparent PNG option in the PRO version.
Also remember to use a double size logo for your blog header so it won’t be blurry on retina screens .

So if you have a blog logo that is 200×200, make it 400×400. Most themes have a feature that lets you add a retina-enhanced larger version (which is 400 x 400 or whatever size your logo is). ).
And if you’re not sure what size to start with, you can most likely refer to your blog design documentation for the best blog header size. If not, check out what the theme is using in their live example on their website. Always good at copying what they do!

So creating a logo that fits your brand identity and overall design is doable, even on a tight budget.
I recommend:
- If you’re Photoshop savvy, you’ll get a pre-made template for a beautiful logo that you can tweak and customize – Creative Market is my go-to place for templates
- Canva is your second best option for easy customization. Canva Pro is even better!
- Take the time to create a beautiful logo that will last a while – avoid cheap looking logo makers and limited apps
- Create at least one main wordmark logo and one submark logo
That’s it! Creating a blog logo is not difficult. It just takes a bit of figuring out what you want it to look like and if it fits your brand personality.
